The painter, illustrator, and stage designer Willi Baumeister counts among the internationally most recognized representatives of classical modernism in Germany and the avant-garde of the late 1940s and 1950s.
Besides Baumeister's artistic work with which he tread innumerable paths that were pioneering for his time, his activities as an instructor at various academies and as a theoretician are also noteworthy.
Baumeister did not promote artistic abstraction as an end it itself but always considered the human and the humane to be a mainspring of his production.

The catalogue raisonné prepared by Gerd Presler and Felicitas Baumeister has been published by the Deutscher Kunstverlag and is available at a cost of € 29.90 through the Baumeister Archive as well as bookstores. 100 copies are numbered and signed by both authors.
